Typical Question: "I am covered by the company..." PART1

I meet one of my old friends recently in Taman Cuepacs, Cheras (we studied together in primary school). We share the same interest, football definitely. We talked a lot on that cold rainy evening at one of Mamak Restaurants there. As an Authorized Agent, surely one of the purposes of meeting him was to share about takaful medical protection. My good friend had no objection to listen.

I met lots of different people in this field. However different people do not mean different question will occur. Some people have lots of question while some people may have less.Some people may ask new/unique question while the others ask typical question.
During that sharing session, my good friend ask this typical question, as always;

"I am covered by the company, so what is the importance of having the Personal Medical Card as offered by you?..."

A very good question indeed. And if you are covered by the company's insurance, it is a good news for you in case of emergency (for example accident or sick cases that require high medical treatment cost). The company will pay the cost & that's it.

However, there are actually few concrete reasons why you should have your own, even if you are already covered by the company.
The reason why? Easy... You will need this personal medical card based on 3 major reasons - mathematical basis, technical basis or evaluation basis.

Let us answer the question based on mathematical basis for now.
My answer is: "True, you are covered by the company. But have you ever asked your company how much (limit in RM) the company is covering you in term of medical insurance?. If case the company does cover but up to only RM20,000 yearly, what will happen to you if the total medical treatment cost is RM40,000 or RM50,000?. Where would you find the insufficient fund? Would you be able to provide the fund immediately...?"

THINGS TO DO: Have you asked your company regarding the company's insurance coverage limit? No? Better go & ask... For those who are working based on contract basis employment / run own business, you may want to start thinking of personal medical card.
